Karen Britt Self, 68, of Johnson City, entered the gates of Heaven to see her Lord and Savior face to face on Monday, March 17, 2025, at the Johnson City Medical Center.
She was born to Shirley Southerland Britt and the late Luther Britt on February 9, 1957, in Johnson City, TN. In addition to her father, Karen was preceded in death by her father-in-law, Hubert Self.
She was a member of Cherokee Baptist Church. Karen enjoyed bowling where Alan proposed on lanes 15-16. She loved being outdoors and assisting Alan with his mowing.
Survivors include her loving husband of 45 years, Alan Self; daughter, Misty Self, of the home; mother, Shirley Britt, one sister, Susan Pauff (David); mother-in-law, Martha Self; sister-in-law, Audrey Williamson. Nieces and nephews Matthew Pauff, Heather Thomas (Josh), Shawn Williamson, Brandon Williamson, Madison Thomas, Barrett Thomas, and Mamie Williamson also referred to as “my scooter bug” by Aunt KK.
Funeral services for Karen will be Sunday, March 23, 2025, 4:00 PM at Cherokee Baptist Church, 143 Mayberry Road, Jonesborough, TN. with Pastor Lynn Hartsell and Pastor Willie Lunsford officiating. Music will be provided by Tina Lunsford and Donna Hobbs. The family will receive family and friends from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM prior to the service. Graveside service will be held Monday, March 24th, 2025 11:00 AM at Washington County Memory Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Shawn Williamson, Brandon Williamson, Matthew Pauff, Josh Thomas, Dwayne Hensley, Howard Buchanan. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Deacons of Cherokee Baptist Church.
