Lonnie James Parker

Lonnie James Parker, 74 of Jonesborough, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 14, 2024, with his family by his side. Lonnie was born in Jonesborough to Thurman and Ruby Parker. Lonnie was a well-known figure in the Johnson City area, dedicating 31 years to the automobile industry. Starting his career in 1977 with Sherwood Chevrolet, Lonnie held various positions, including sales, finance, and general sales manager. After 28 years with Sherwood, he continued his career with Bill Gatton Acura as general sales manager and general manager. Upon retiring in 2008, Lonnie transitioned to Lifestyles, where he enjoyed a successful career as a personal trainer until March 2023.

Known for his sharp dress attire and bowties, Lonnie was also celebrated for his sense of humor and contagious laugh. He cherished Harley and Corvette rides with his life partner, Kim, and loved spending Sundays exploring antique stores and collecting memorabilia. Lonnie took great joy in working out, running with his granddaughter Erika, and maintaining his immaculate yard.

Lonnie is survived by his life partner, Kimberly Parker; his son, Tod Parker, and Melanie; his granddaughter, Erika Patterson, and Cody; his grandson, Austin Parker of Seattle, WA; his brother, Mackie Parker, and Judy; his niece, Tonya Kyker, and Jonathan; and his beloved boxer, Parker.

At the family's request, a private funeral will be held. The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to Amedisys Hospice, nurse Amelia, caregiver, and friend Ann Gray, and special thanks to his good friends and neighbors, Gram, and Ann Norman.

Lonnie's memory will be fondly cherished by all who knew him.
