Robert Ward

Robert Vance "Doonie" Ward, 86, of the Bowmantown community, went to be with his Lord and Savior on December 9, 2024, at his home after a lengthy illness. He was born to the late Corby and Omega Ward. Doonie was a lifetime member of Bowmantown Baptist Church where he faithfully served as a Deacon. He also served his community for over twenty-five years with the Bowmantown Ruritan in many positions including President and Zone Governor.

In addition to his parents, Doonie was preceded in death by his son, Jerry Dean Ward; brothers and sister-in-laws, Daryl Ward (Betty), and Lee Ward (Ufrema).

He is survived by his wife of over sixty-five years, Judy Ward; his son, Randy Ward (Jason); daughter, Sandy Ward Faye (Mike); grandchildren, Kirra Bloomer (Steve), Kaylee Duke (Jerry), Kelsi Arnold (Shaun), and Mandy Shafer (Drew); along with several great-grandchildren.

The Ward family will receive friends on Thursday, December 12, 2024, at Jonesborugh Funeral Home from 5 PM - 7 PM. A Funeral Service will follow at 7 PM with Pastor Josh Grizzle officiating. Committal Service and Interment will be on Friday, December 13, 2024, in Fairview Cemetery beginning at 11 AM. Pallbearers will be selected from Doonie's family.

The Ward family would like to thank Doonie's in home caregiver, Jackie Miller, and to Amedysis Hospice Care in Elizabethton.
